Basic Fan
Hold the balisong trainer in a verticle close position with the pivots on the topFlick the opposite handle towards the biggest knucke on your second fingerUse the knucke on your second finger to create a 180 degrees angle between your trainer blade and your opposite handleUse your wrist to spin the knife ina fanning rotation (look at the video tutorial for further instructions)
Try to do it gradually, 1 rotation, then 2 rotations, then 3, then go on!

Basic Icepick open
Hold the balisong trainer in basic closed position but this time the pivots should be facing downHold it so that the two handles which are closed are forwards and backwards instead of sideways and sidewaysDrop the handle which is closest to you (or facing you) so that it hangs down thereFling the handle which you just dropped back up in the opposite direction up at your fingersBefore it hits your fingers, rotate the handle 180 degrees so that it goes back down the other sideLet it spin all the way back up to the handle you were grabbing the entire time to finish the trick

Hold the balisong closed with the pivots at the top of the balisongDrop the bite handle and the blade down so you are only holding one handleFlick the opposite handle at your thumb which should be close to the pivotsBefore the bite handle makes contact with your thumb let goLet the balisong spin one rotation around your thumb and grab the handle you started onFlick the knife into an open position afterwards
